Doing your child’s homework?·          Selling their Girl Scout cookies?·          Filling out their college applications?·          Solving their roommate conflicts?●  After graduation calling their bosses to negotiate their raises? Sound farfetched?
Not at all according to the research done by Hara Estroff Marano, Psychology Today editor and the author of A NATION OF WIMPS: The High Cost of Invasive ParentingParents today are crossing the line by becoming too involved with their children’s lives by not allowing them to solve problems on their own. It’s fine & indeed sometimes necessary to help and give advice to children (even adult children) but parents are taking over tasks that should be rightly handled by their kids…well into adulthood. This leads to many problems in both school and in the workplace. As a result, children and adults do not learn how to problem solve and make decisions for themselves. And everyone around them suffers as a result.
